Yesterday, in a talk at the University of Cape Town, Pres. Obama said that “America will make no apology for supporting African efforts.” On that note, in case you missed it, last week the New York Times reported that some top military officials, including AFRICOM Vice Admiral Charles J. Leidig Jr., are increasingly upset with the Leahy Amendment which doesn’t allow the US to provide known human rights violators with aid and training. This will be an important story to follow.
