Broadly speaking, I am interested in colonial leftovers in Ghana, the legacies of five hundred years of imperial and colonial rule that linger in contemporary life. This includes:
- Colonial hauntings in Ghanaian social studies curricula, which I have written about here and in Popula
- The construction and circulation of colonial agricultural discourses
- The involvement of the US military in African security, development and public sectors, which I have written about extensively for the Nation, Foreign Policy in Focus, and Africa is a Country
In April 2018 I appeared on radio shows in the US and South Africa to discuss protests in Ghana that ensued after an agreement between the US military and Ghanaian government was made public. Both appearances can be accessed here:
