AFRICOM and Booz Allen at the 56th Annual Meeting of the African Studies Association

I’ll be presenting at the African Studies Association 56th Annual meeting in Baltimore in November, and in excited preparation I was going through the program tonight, circling the panels I wanted to attend. I was quite surprised to see the following group of presenters:

ASA africomAFRICOM, who has been the focus of many of my blog posts and writings, and Booz Allen, who was recently contracted by the Pentagon to “to study the continent’s future.” Huh, ok. The intent behind their inclusion is questionable, and I would be interested to know if they were invited or applied to present.
